Podiatry Clinic

Supporting healthy movement and development from your child's first steps through to adolescence.

EVERY CHILD DEVELOPS DIFFERENTLY

Watching your child grow is exciting - but it can also bring questions. Is it normal? Should I be worried?

The truth is that many changes in children's feet and legs are a normal part of growing and development.

Our role is to help you understand what's expected, identify when further assessment may be beneficial, and provide personalised advice that supports movement and development.

THE PAEDIATRIC CLINIC

When should you book an appointment?

An assessment doesn't always mean treatment is needed.

Often, we'll simply reassure you that your child's development is progressing as expected.

If treatment is recommended, we'll explain your options and work with you to develop a personalised plan that supports your child's individual needs.

We recommend booking an appointment if your child:

  • Complains of persistent foot, heel or leg pain.

  • Frequently trips, falls or struggles to keep up with other children.

  • Walks on their toes most of the time or continues toe walking beyond the toddler years.

  • Walks with their feet turning in or out and seems to be getting worse/affecting their walking.

  • Has difficulty participating in sport or physical activity because of foot or leg discomfort.

  • Has flat feet associated with pain, fatigue or difficulty keeping up with their peers.

  • Develops limping or changes in walking.

  • Has concerns with ingrown toenails, warts or persistent skin or nail problems.

  • Has shoes that wear unevenly or is finding it difficult to find comfortable footwear; or

  • If you simply have concerns about your child's foot development or walking pattern.
